After a long night at the Viennese flex…

Published by Martin under Daily Life & News, LIVE

I am not sure if the coffee really helps today to make my brain work properly again….. after a really good concert of Deus I used to hang around with some friends – no one of Carla’s Cafe has been there – but 2 friends of great Surfdog7.

Austrian beer, French Cigarettes and Belgium music – a very nice mixture last night at the flex Vienna that is a wonderful location along the ‘Wien-River’ that takes it’s way through the inner City of Vienna.

And Deus was great tonight – although I needed a little time to think about this concert – because for me seeing Deus for the 4th time in the last 10 years (1 – worst case scenario tour about 1995, 2 – the ideal crash tour about 1998, 3 – pocket revolution tour about 2006 and 4 the vantage point tour 2008) it has been different to concerts before – they have changed sound and members and the new songs were a little bit new in my ear – another things was that I had no real good place inside of the concert hall and the sound was – have to say – really terrible there – too much bass and sometimes problems to differ the single instruments… that is why I prefer concerts like this in the Arena Vienna although the flex is a cool location and not far from home…

Deus live in Vienna – a good reason to go out tonight

Published by Martin under Daily Life & News, LIVE

This evening the Belgian band Deus comes to the flex in Vienna – a really good reason for us to go out and party tonight….

DEUS

I do follow the path of Deus since their great album ‘worst case scenario’ in 1994 and try to go to their shows whenever they are near….

This band is always fresh!! In the beginning it has been extremely innovative and avant-garde – a crazy mixture of artists from Antwerp & rest of Belgium (painters, art-students, musicians…) – after Stef Kamil Carlens left DEUS to concentrate on his band Zita Swoon (my personal top favourite from Belgium ;-) the band around front man Tom Barman was re-arranged after a few years in the current band composition. Beside Tom Barman only Klaas Janzoons is left of the origin band of the early 90ies – I can remember a concert of DEUS in the Arena Vienna when a string of his Violin teared and while putting a new one on the instrument the band was doing great improvisation….
